Who is MABA and what is your Mission Statement?

The Malvern Area Betterment Association (MABA) has operated as a community club and business club since its conception in the late 70's.  In 2007 the organization was reborn under new leadership, with young and old community activists with one mission: to better Malvern and its surrounding area.  Our strategic plan includes many objectives: to increase neighborly rapport and develop a supporting social infrastructure; increase volunteerism and civic engagement; create and maintain cultural family friendly events; youth education and development via engagement; city wide development and beautification projects including improving and maintaining historic buildings and monuments; and to increase city governmental collaborations.

Through events, fundraisers and projects, we estimate that in 2009, over 4,500 volunteer hours were accumulated.  We work with business owners to better measure the amount of economic development, both short and long term, that is created during our events , which last from one day, to all month long, and bring thousands of visitors to main street each year.

Today, as a 501(c)(3) organization, MABA is a volunteer organization, action committee, developmental think tank, collaborator and convener, youth development team and chamber of commerce, all rolled into one group of enthusiastic individuals.  The excitement generated from 2007 through 2009 increased our budget 98.75% and membership continues to rise, individuals continue to volunteer and we continue accomplishing our goals to better Malvern and Mills County.  Annually we utilize our 150+ volunteer base, diverse in culture, race, gender, economic status, geography and more.  7 full time Board Members keep the organization moving progressively into the future.

Are MABA events free?

A majority of our festivals are free to the general public.  Food, Beer Garden and specific activities may have additional fees.  Please see the individual web page of each event, located under Tourism/Events/Calendar.

I'd like to get more involved with you / your events...How do I join?
